Nyon, a Roman town on the lake
Founded by the Romans as Colonia Iulia Equestris, Nyon has been linked to Divonne since antiquity: an aqueduct carried water from Divonne’s springs to the town. Its white castle overlooks Lake Geneva and houses a museum of local history and Nyon porcelain.
Below, the lakeside promenade invites a stroll, and CGN boats cross the lake to Yvoire, a fortified medieval village on the French shore. A lovely day out, 15 minutes from the hotel.
Coppet and Madame de Staël’s castle
