The lake loop, the locals’ favourite walk

Lake Divonne is man-made: it was created after the Second World War, together with the racecourse and the casino, to revive the spa town. The loop is 3.3 km long on paths and a pedestrian lane: allow 45 minutes to an hour at a gentle pace.

Fitness stations line the route, and a planet trail, a scale model of the solar system, links the lake to the racecourse. Joggers share the shore with anglers from early morning, with the Jura as a backdrop.

The beach and water sports

In summer, DVBeach covers 17,000 m²: lifeguarded swimming and paddleboard, pedal boat and canoe rental. According to the tourist office, it opens from 1 July to 31 August, daily from 12 noon to 7 pm. Check the season’s hours before you go.

The lake also has a watersports centre, and the town has a 50-metre open-air swimming pool for keen swimmers.
